Day 6: This one time in Arkansas.....

Didn't have to get that early of a start today since we made it to Tulsa we were right in the NWS's predicted bullseye for severe weather. We didn't even get on the road until after 1pm central time. We started chasing a storm in SE Oklahoma (Clarice) and then watched her die while her sister (Claire) developed into a nice storm and then gave birth to a bunch of Claire Jr's.  In the end, none of these storms produced nothing but some gusty winds, lightning and a tiny bit of rotation. Sadly, there was not enough sheer to spin up a tornado. On the way home from dinner, we actually core punched a developing thunderstorm. That was pretty cool....even though it could have turned out bad if the hail had been bigger than it was. Again, mother nature pulls out some surprises for us!

I got to add another state to my list today when we entered Arkansas. This leaves Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming and Montana as states I still have yet to visit. At some point around Fayetteville, AR I realized that if you put a handle bar mustache and  a top hat on Dr. P. that he would look like a villain out of a 1920's silent film. The Ozark's are beautiful. I wouldn't mind visiting this place on vacations some time in the future.  Even southeast Oklahoma is pretty nice looking.

Tomorrow does not look like a good chase day but as I have found out, things change pretty quickly when it comes to the outlook. I suspect that if the NWS says there is a chance of storms in Oklahoma or Kansas tomorrow that we will chase there. If not, we will start heading north because it looks like a ridge of high pressure will finally build across the center of the country and make storm development pretty much zero.
